Other than balsam fir buds. What do whitetail deer eat in the boreal forest?
Any kind of bud off of various shrubs, trees and bushes. They would also eat the bark of some trees, fruits/nuts that fall from the tree (apples and acorns) and most of the plants that would grow on the forest floor. What do whitetail deer eat in the boreal forest?
Everything that exists there. Deer are highly adaptable. And have a great digestive system like a cow . They can regurgitate and chew their cud.
Deer for the most part are natural browsers and wonder around and eat a little of this and a little of that. I`ve seen them eat bark and tree branches in the winter.
I agree w/Carver, i've seem a doe %26amp; her fawn eating spruce tree's %26amp; bark, they also eat any kind of Grass %26amp; clover.
Good Hunting..
lots of moss and pine would be my assumption. Sort of like Northern Wisconsin.
