My favorite hunting rifle is my Ruger 7mm mag. I use 150 grain rounds for deer. My former wife use a Remington .243 and actually took more deer than I did.What is your favorite gun and caliber to hunt whitetail deer?
There is only one, the 30-06 of course.* Remington Model 721.* Is there anything better?*

Ask a professional at your local gun shop if your having trouble deciding a caliber. They will fit you with a rifle that fits your body size... you don't want to shoot a 7mm mag if you only weigh 150 lbs... go for something like a .243 or .270 these are both very good whitetail rounds that wont make your shoulder sore. My deer rifle is a winchester model 70 in a .300 wsm caliber. I only weigh 175lbs but I wanted a gun that could hunt anywhere in the US.

The one I actually use most often is a Remington 700 Mountain rifle chambered in 7x57 Mauser, but I have a special soft spot for the Winchester 71 in 348 Winchester that was my father's. I've had others longer, and I keep buying more, but those hold special places for me.
i use a223 4 everything i hunt accept 4 black powder but u have 2 practice a lot i usually shoot 4 the base of the skull r the base of the neck works great 4 me i m getting older n not much recoil on 223

That's what I have and use and have killed many deer with. Although, I wouldn't hesitate to use any of the above listed ones as well, outside of the .50 cal !!
