Normally in most places it is about 3 hours in the morning beginning just prior to sunrise, and then again early evening about an hour before sunset until about 2 hours after.What time of day was it when you encounter a deer on or near the roadway?
I hardly ever see deer in the late morning and afternoon hours. I see more as the sun is close to setting, all hours of the night and early in the morning.


My guess is they hide in the woods during daylight hours here in N.J..
