When does ';The Rut'; actually start for Whitetail Deer?

I'm hunting in central Texas and we have been hearing different dates so I was wondering what SPECIFIC day it is? If there is a specific dayWhen does ';The Rut'; actually start for Whitetail Deer?
We hunt north of I20 near Eastland and they were not in Rut last week as far as we could tell. They will do stupid things. Chase doe in the middle of the day across open fields. Fight other bucks. Even on occasion, attack a man, although that's rare.

I think weather may factor in. But it varies by location, definitely.

I don't think it's a certain date at all. When does ';The Rut'; actually start for Whitetail Deer?
Although there is not a set date for the Whitetail Rut, it usually varies from early November to the end of February. This year, in Florida, it started for most deer last week. So it'll most likely happen sooner than later. The rut is the best time to catch big bucks out in the open chasing does, so good luck and kill a big one.
It depends somewhat on the year. It is around the same time each year. Last night I was watching a deer hunting show on television and they said the run was in January in west Texas. Watch deer every couple of days and look at their activity and you will be able to determine when the rut is in your area.
Bucks will go into rut when does start coming into estrus. Each year, it will be at different times- could be later, could be earlier. But.. it's not in December- does usually go into estrus around November. Some does come into estrus very early or really late also.
Sarah is right. Also it is swayed by when the weather gets cold and the rains start. In semi-desert West Texas, that can be January. Wetter places, it's already on.
i agree with jake, when does come into heat ,, more than likley in texas later in the year late nov thru jan, just watch for scrapes and take your grunt call at alltimes ok
Begining of December
