When and where do deer sleep?

When there is thirty inches of snow on the ground, where do deer sleep and what time of day? How do they keep warm? When and where do deer sleep?
During times of heavy snow, deer will often find cover under evergreen trees. They will decrease their activity to conserve energy, and eat plenty of whatever food source they can before a storm moves in. Increase your chances of taking a deer right before a storm moves in. They will bed in areas offering protection from the wind during these times as well. Sleep is not necessarily the issue when heavy snow is on. Survival is the objective and deer activity is minimal to none during extreme winter storms. When and where do deer sleep?
Trees, their in the trees dropping snowballs on us!! ;0)

seriously, deer sleep in the brush or thickets, or wherever they can find that allows them to see or hear a predator approaching, with the layer of fat they build up feeding, they have a natural insulation that keeps them warm even in the snow. As for when, normally they sleep off and on during the day, and feed towards water at night, and away from it in the morning to their bedding area. But some deer don't follow that rule, and move around when the need hits them.

shoot safe
They will sleep in the snow... depends on if its like windy or not... or the cover they have... as when they will sleep. They can stay warm just by laying there or moving around once in awhile. Littler ones may huddle next to mom.

They usually bed down during the day in cover. It is hard to find them during the day.

At least this is in Texas. Don't really deal with 30'; of snow, but certainly freezing.
