How do you feel about baiting for deer n elk???

Take into account the spreading of CWD and and other factors such as pulling off neighbors lands and such.

Personally i do not hunt over it i feel it is more fun to get inside the animals head and hunt their habitsHow do you feel about baiting for deer n elk???
I have never done it, but then again all my deer hunting has been in Nebraska and Missouri... not really a hard time finding and tracking them in those states....

First time I eveer heard of it was when I was in Army training down in Texas....

I suppose its OK for culling a certain number for population control, but to me the stalking, finding, and engaging for the kill is what hunting is all about !!

Now - if you're talking about baiting prarie dogs so you can blast those little peckers.... I'm all for it.... rats of the plains that kill / maim the cattle... I got no love for those rodents. How do you feel about baiting for deer n elk???
i think that in a way it does put a unfair advantage towards the deer but i guess as long as they only bag the limit, its not horrible. I personally think that it is way to much fun and challenging to get one by chance or look at a deers habuts and hunt off of that. I guess i would be more excited to see a deer i have been stalking than i would wen baiting. Also if i did bait i would always have high hopes of seeing deer, which might not happen...
It's always been illegal where I hunt, but my home state is considering allowing it. I don't think I'll participate. It seems a bit unsporting. But I have no gripes with others using bait if the biologists think it's needed. I'm not sure I'd call it hunting, but the population has gotten a bit out of hand even with hunting seasons for whitetails from the beginning of fall all the way into February. We seem to have become the victims of success in promoting our deer herd.
I live way up north (Marquette, MI) and everyone baits. Actually everyone here feeds the deer through out the winter. White Tails Unlimited spends something like 30 grand a year feeding the deer because the winters are to harsh to support a deer herd. Still hunting is a bigger challenge as far as I'm concerned. That being said there is a time and a place for everything. When people bait deer around here they are trying to attract does. When the does are around maybe a buck will follow. It would be nice to hunt farm fields but here those are few and far between, so if you can't bring the deer to the corn bring the corn to the deer. There have never been a reported case of CWD in the U.P also.
I don't really have any objection to it. Sometimes you can't get to where the deer are at, so you have to try to bring them to you... or else they move out to a different area when rut hits, so you need a little something to keep them around. I consider myself an ethical hunter,,,, i always go for a clean kill, and never kill ANYTHING unless I can use it... that even includes possums. Well, o.k., I kill mice, bugs, you get the idea. I don't kill just for the thrill. So, that being said, i don't see anything wrong with using a little snack to bring them to you.
Texas got some bad publisity about this few years back, dear and retired old wild cats, Animal barely raised its head and was dead, no HUNT to it, just aim and its done and persons pay for it. I believe even to thin out the population there should not be entrapment like feeders. *mamatx
Well I'm from Michigan and some of out deer have T.B

Which totally did away with all baiting as of the 2007 hunting season.... I think it's a stupid idea b/c deer travel in herds and they eat the farmers corn anyway.

That's just how i feel... I've been hunting for three years now and so far I've been pretty successful. The property i hunt on is adjacent to a farmers corn field.
I personally don't condone baiting, but i see that it could serve a valid purpose if a particular species was causing severe damage, then i can see it being used to great effect, but i don't see it as sporting....
I live in New Mexico most of the lend I hunt is wide open. but you will not find me baiting wildlife that in my opinion is not hunting.
well, i dont like hunting over bait never have never well...it gives tree huggers for ammo to throw our way.
Totally against it! I feel animals should not be hunted or killed to satisfy man's ego. Hmm I wonder what would happen if MAN was hunted as a sport????
