Wisconsin hunters are required to wear blaze orange on 50% of your body, and must have a blaze orange hat that is at least 50% blaze orange as well. This year, 144 square inches of blaze orange is require on ground blinds as well.
I hunt in southeast Wisconsin, and wear a camo-blaze jacket, and an ballcap with a camo brim, or a blaze orange facemask for cold days. But in my experience with deer, trust me - deer won't notice if you're in 100% solid blaze orange or camo. They're more concerned with your scent and movements, so load up on the orange! On cold bowhunting days, I've even worn my camo-blaze jacket (because I don't own a heavy camo jacket) and have seen and gotten plenty of deer. Rather be safe than sorry - there's plenty of stupid hunters who shoot at anything that moves.
Good luck this year!Deer hunting, I cant seem to find anything on how much orange you need to wear?

I hunted in WI about 4 years ago and I was good with an orange jacket and hat in orange. Here in Texas, it is not required other than on public hunting land. There you must wear at least 144'; or a 12';x12'; on your chest and back as well as a head covering. I would recommend a vest and hunting hat. Check with your local department of parks and wildlife or natural resources and they will be able to help. Also, most places only require it when going to and from your hunting spot. Once you are in your stand, it may be ok to take it off. (This would be in the case that your wearing a cheap vest to be legal, that may not be as quiet as you want)
In Michigan, you must wear a hat, cap, vest, jacket or rain gear of blaze orange. It needs to be the outermost garment and visible from all sides. Camouflage orange clothing are legal if 50% or more of the garment is blaze orange.
A blaze orange/camouflage hat is probably the minimum you can legally wear in Michigan.
Check with the agency that issues your hunting licence. This varies from state to state and possibly on a county level in some states. U.S. Forest Service units reqre, ';All hunters and those accompanying them in the field during daylight hours are required to wear a minimum of 400 square inches of hunter orange with at least 144 square inches
appearing on both the chest and back at all times; additionally, wearing hunter orange headwear is required.';
So to be safe, I'd wear a minimum of a hat and vest in Orange.
there's no hard and fast rule for this (not in my country) it's more a sensibility thing, so as you are not mistaken for a deer and shot, which would never actually happen if everyone identified their taget. however, some people stroll through our bushland wearing head to toe blaze orange, while most people (such as myself) throw in a cap or bandana, which is usually sufficient.
THERE IS A RULE:
Go down to where you purchase your license, there they will have the whititail hunting regulations book. It should be in there. I also live in wisconsin. Near madison. hunt near pardeeville. I wear thick camo coveralls and an orange jacket. YOU MUST WEAR %50 ORANGE IN THE UPPER HALF OF YOUR BODY AND YOU MUST WEAR A HAT WITH AT LEAST %50 ORANGE
Hi I dont know what state you live in but , Personaly myself i wear a hunter orange vest, that way i know i am covered. I live in Lousiania in the hand book it says 400 inches of hunters orange, So i would say a vest should work for ya.
One orange hat and one orange vest is typical in Rifle Season (250 Square Inches) but in archery as long as your in your stand you dont have to wear it except when entering the woods. At least in Pennsylvania you dont.
In my home state, maine, you have to wear two clothing items in blaze orange and one of them has to cover your chest and back.
Use this link, it has a list of Winsconsin hunting laws.

Good Luck,
FWC.
Most states require you wear at least an orange hat. I ALWAYS wear an orange hat, even when I'm on private land with family friends, and when I go on public land I wear an orange hat and vest.
I would reccomend an orange hat and/or maybe a vest with the orange stripe. You want to make sure other hunters can see you !
I think you need at least 400 square inches.
what part of WI, i live in waukesha and have 2 cabins in three lakes
just a orange hat would do
